Youtube video review: Poolside Suite (Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore) | Hotel Review
Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore is one of the oldest hotel in the country and is located within the busy Orchard shopping district. The nearest MRT is Orchard station, with convenient access to a wide array of shopping and dining options within the area. This hotel is situated on top of a slope and there are no sheltered routes to it so wet-weather contingency plans to get to the hotel will need to be arranged.

Facade of the hotel.
This hotel is largely popular because of its location and reasonable price point. An entry level room here would cost under $200, making it reasonable for a hotel in this area. As such, the check-in crowd was large during our stay and experience was less than ideal. Staggered check-in time slots were allocated for guests but rooms were not pre-assigned so they were all on a first-come-first-serve basis.

There was no priority given to us even when we booked a suite and this hotel does not have an executive lounge. We had booked this suite at a relatively low rate ($422 nett) via Klook so we didn't have too many complains.
Poolside Suite
All the poolside suite and rooms were situated on the first floor of the hotel and they surround the two pools in this property. The poolside suites were all recently refurbished. There were two entrances to our room; one being the main entrance and the other, a back entrance with direct pool access. Upon entering the room, a long narrow corridor connected the bathroom, bedroom and living space.

Immediately to the left of the entrance was the bathroom. The layout was old-fashioned and small, which was rather odd given that the remaining parts of the room were spacious. Being recently refurbished, the marble tiled bathroom floor and walls were in good condition. Basic bathroom amenities were provided.
A small bathroom.
Adjacent to the bathroom was the main bedroom. This space was very spacious and well-furnished. A ceiling fan was mounted above the bed which is uncommon in hotel rooms.

The luggage rack sat directly in front of a very large mirror. It was quite high up so lifting a heavy suitcase may be a challenge.

Beside it was the mini-bar area. A Nespresso machine together with TWG tea sachets were available for consumption. The glasses and cups were arranged very orderly in the drawer as well. During our stay, the mini-fridge was empty.

The built-in wardrobe space was adjacent to the mini-bar area. This is where guests can find all the bedroom amenities.

Only a king bed configuration was available for this room category. The bed was fairly comfortable and we had a good rest. A flat screen television was mounted a good distance in front of the bed.

Power sockets, light switches and a reading light was found on either side of the bed. On one side, a telephone and digital clock were provided.

Separated by a false wall from the bedroom was the living space. This living space was cosy and also had a ceiling fan in the middle of the room. This was also where the back door was located which gave us direct access to the pool deck.

A work desk and a lounge chair were found in this area. We found printed information regarding our stay on the table as well.

On the other side was a sitting area and a coffee table. A small carpet covered the wooden flooring in this area.

Facilities Highlights
The hotel has two pools and a fitness centre. The main pool has a rectangular layout with deep and shallow regions, suitable for doing laps. The other pool was smaller and shallower so a leisure swim with the family is ideal.
Swimming pools
The main pool was surrounded by guest rooms and the lobby so you probably won't get any privacy when using this pool. The rectangular layout made it ideal for doing laps but not suitable for children due to deep ends. There were some sun decks scattered around this pool deck.

The second pool was more irregular shaped with lush greeneries surrounding it. Being enclosed by buildings housing guest rooms, this pool lacked privacy as well. The shallower waters here made it safer for the whole family to utilise the pool.

Fitness centre
The fitness centre was open 24 hours and could be accessed using our guest room card. It was spacious and well equipped.

Breakfast at Coffee Lounge
Daily breakfast was held at their in-house Coffee Lounge situated on the lobby level of the hotel. The breakfast was a buffet format and guests had to go around to collect their food.

The breakfast spread was decent and the food quality wasn't too bad. Even with the large crowd during breakfast, the food was sufficiently topped up periodically.
A decent breakfast spread.
Concluding remarks: Goodwood Park Hotel certainly had signs of ageing. Even though our suite was recently refurbished, the layout was rather bad especially with the very small bathroom. While most of their entry level rooms are yet to be refurbished, room rates are competitive for hotels in the Orchard district and a stay here may be worth considering.
