Youtube video review: Urban Junior Suite (PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering Singapore) | Hotel Review

Situated just five minutes away from Clarke Quay MRT station, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering is a relatively new eco-friendly garden concept hotel in Singapore. This hotel has lush greeneries surrounding the hotel and sustainable features in guest rooms as well as common areas.

The lobby of the hotel was rather spacious, with very high ceilings and plenty of glass panels which gave the area plenty of natural sunlight. The wooden features at the check-in counters were modern and resonated throughout the hotel. Our check-in experience was fast and hassle free and we were soon on our way to our room.

The walkways of the hotel were well designed, with the centre of the building having an open concept walkway which gave a strong nature feel while the corners had air-conditioned walkways with carpeted floorings.

Do check out this well-appointed Urban Junior Suite in our immersive 360-degree room tour below.

The junior suite had an overall wooden concept, with a narrow entrance that leads directly to either the bathroom or the living space.

On the right was the minibar area concealed behind a wooden door. A mini-fridge was provided which was empty during our stay. We felt that the fridge was at a good height as it was easily accessible. Below it was a Nespresso machine with four capsules, some teabags by TWG and some glasses for in-room use.

As we proceeded into the living room, the wooden tiles were replaced by carpeted flooring. The living space was rather spacious and had almost floor to ceiling windows which gave the room great lighting.

Overview of the living space.

A small work desk was made available and standard amenities like a telephone, writing paper and a pen were provided. Conveniently, power sockets were found here and if you require projecting your laptop to the television, connection ports were provided. A recycling bin and general waste bin were found beneath this desk.

There is a nice and cosy sitting area with a coffee table behind the television. A bay window overlooking the city was also designed for guests who wish to sit by the window and soak in the views. Day and night blinds could be adjusted for privacy.

The bedroom was directly behind the living space, separated by a sliding wooden door. A king sized bed stood in the middle of the room which had 90-degree views of the city as it was a corner room. In front of the bed was a small television. As with the living room, day and night blinds were installed.

One of the bedside tables had a telephone, a desk clock, writing materials and a remote controller for the television. Behind it was a powerpoint and control panels to adjust the room lights, blinds and air-conditioning.

The other bedside table had two reusable glass bottles containing drinking water and two drinking glasses. The control panels were also found here.

The wardrobe area was standard sized, with bedroom amenities like ironing board and iron, bathrobes, bedroom slippers, laundry bag and a built-in safe were all provided.

The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by another wooden sliding door. The bathroom was fairly spacious, with a double vanity area.

Bathroom amenities were provided by Elemis and a hairdryer with a power socket was found in the drawer between the two basins.

Bathroom amenities.

The wet area had a standing shower and a bathtub by the window and overlooked the greeneries on the hotel grounds. Privacy blinds were also installed. The bathtub was uniquely shaped and we felt that soaking in it was not very comfortable.

On the other side of the bathroom was the toilet seat. This area also lead out to the living area and so the bathroom had two entrances. The toilet area was separated from the main bathroom by a wooden sliding door.

Facilities

This hotel has a very nice outdoor pool with views of the city and the surrounding greeneries on the hotel grounds. The pool deck also has lounge chairs as well as six bird nest designed cabanas for guests to relax.

Directly behind the pool was a well equipped fitness centre with modern exercise equipment and free weights provided.

At the side of the gym, guests may find towels, chilled bottled water and sanitising equipment.

Towels and bottled water were also made available.

Dining Highlights

Breakfast was served daily at the Lime restaurant. This restaurant also serves afternoon tea as well as dinner buffets.

Breakfast in Lime restaurant

The restaurant was situated on the ground floor and was modern. As with other areas of the hotel, floor to ceiling glass windows gave the restaurant natural lighting.

The breakfast was an all-you-can-eat style that was brought to the table upon ordering. In general, the food was quite tasty but service was rather slow as the restaurant was packed.

A good variety of food was available including American breakfast sets with eggs done your way alongside side dishes such as hash browns, sausages and baked beans. Local favourites such as Nasi Lemak and fried noodle were also available. To end off with something sweet, guests can opt for pancakes.

Concluding remarks: This eco-friendly hotel was certainly a refreshing getaway for us with modern and tastefully designed guest rooms. We would recommend booking a say here but do avoid the weekends and holidays as the hotel occupancy is usually high during these periods.
