Youtube video review: Pool Terrace Room (Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel) | Review
Situated just three minutes away from Orchard MRT, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel is a business hotel unlike any other. This hotel offers unique rooms and suites with resort vibes on its pool terrace situated on level five. We had previously stayed in their most expensive room category, the Tang Sok Kiar Suite which features a private plunge pool and cabana for the ultimate resort living in downtown Orchard, and you may check out that review here.
In this review however, we visited the more affordable pool terrace rooms which are equally good in making you feel like you're on an island holiday. These rooms are priced from $300++ and there are only nine such rooms available. Out of which, only three comes with a private pool cabana (Rooms 1, 3 and 4) and only the latter two have direct pool access. Be sure to request these rooms if you're booking this room category. Guests staying in a pool terrace room will have access to the M Club. Checking in was performed on the lobby level, after which you will be escorted to your room.

The pool terrace of this hotel is truly a beautiful spot with the nine pool terrace rooms lined up on either side of the pool. The backdrop of Orchard makes it feel like an oasis in the middle of the bustling city.

We were greeted with our very own private patio outside our room. In this generous sized outdoor space was a private pool cabana and a seating area. This elevated area offered excellent views of the pool terrace and was perfect to unwind and enjoy the day away.

The seating area had two rattan chairs and a small rounded table and were well angled to face the pool. There was also a ceiling fan here. This was a good spot if it becomes too warm to lie under the pool cabana.

The room itself has a very resort feel to it, with wooden parquet floorings and a nature inspired bathroom. It was well sized and connecting rooms are available.
Overview of the room.
Closest to the entrance was the minibar area and a Lavazza coffee machine with three unique capsules were provided. Two glass cups can be found here as well.

Beneath the coffee machine were two sliding drawers which opened up to reveal TWG teabags, instant coffee sachets, a kettle, an ice bucket and glass mugs. Adjacent to it was a cabinet which housed an empty mini fridge.

Mounted onto the wall and in the centre of the room was a decently sized television with charging ports just below it. HDMI ports were accessible and we were able to mirror our laptop screen easily. A DVD player was also available.

The work desk was relatively simple and basic amenities like a telephone, writing materials and alcohol wipes were found here. There was a lamp placed in this area to give additional lighting if needed.

The beds in this property are remarkably comfortable and a good nights' sleep is almost a given. A lounge chair was placed by the bedside so guests can enjoy the pool terrace views under air conditioning.

The bedside tables were simple but functional. A lamp and master light switches could be found on both sides while a digital clock and telephone were found on one of these tables.

Heading into the bathroom and the first thing that was noticed was a closet area. This was where most of the bedroom amenities such as a bathrobe, a built-in safe, ironing equipment, an extra pillow, clothes hangers, a hairdryer and laundry bags were provided.

The bathroom has a nature inspired theme with glass panels on the roof to allow natural light in and stone tiled walls with pebbles scattered around. A dual basin offered added privacy to guests and bathroom amenities provided were by THANN.

A bathtub and standing shower were both available and the toilet area was in a separate partition with glass doors giving an intimate open concept feels.

The free standing tub was clean and spacious enough for one adult. Bathroom amenities such as bath gel, shampoo, conditioner and mouth wash were found on a stool by the bathtub.

As mentioned, the bathroom has a very open concept theme and guests may opt to open the oriental metal grill completely or leave it closed. For added privacy, an automated blind was also present.

We were presented a welcome amenity consisting of bread & dips with sparkling fruit juices that was delivered to our room.

Dining Highlights
While the pool terrace room booking comes with M Club lounge access, the club lounge was closed on weekdays and so we had to consume our evening dinner service at Marriott Cafe. This was also where breakfast was held.
Dinner at Marriott Cafe
Guests with club lounge access on weekdays are entitled to a complimentary three course dinner set with free-flow beverages. Dinner was served between 5.30PM to 7.30PM while beverage services lasted till 9.30PM. A variety of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic were available (although considerably lesser than at the M Club) and the dinner menu consisted of one appetiser, one main and one dessert. The menu changes daily and the food quality was decent.

Breakfast at Marriott Cafe
The breakfast menu at Marriott cafe never changes but a very good selection of local and western options were made available. The breakfast helpings were free-flow and they start from 6AM. On weekends, the later timings are generally busy.

Concluding remarks: Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the pool terrace room. As we stayed during weekdays, the setting was tranquil but would differ drastically on a busy weekend. If you're considering to book this room, do request those with a pool cabana.
