Youtube video review: Fabulous Room (W Singapore - Sentosa Cove) | Hotel Review

W Singapore - Sentosa Cove is an upscale and modern property on Sentosa island just south of Singapore. This luxurious five-star property participates in the Marriott Bonvoy Loyalty programme. All guest rooms and suites are stylishly designed and offer resort like accommodation sparsely available in this city-state. This hotel features a massive outdoor pool, one of the largest hotel pool in all of Singapore which is equipped with a thrilling water slide.

We had booked the entry level Wonderful Room but due to our Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite status, we were upgraded to the Fabulous Room which has a balcony overlooking the pool and Marina. Unfortunately, a suite upgrade was not possible as the hotel was operating close to maximum capacity during the school holiday weekend. Getting to the hotel may be inconvenient if you don't drive (or cab). The best way to get to this hotel is by taking Sentosa shuttle bus B from Beach station (accessed by monorail from vivo city).

Our check-in experience was rather fast as we had completed their mobile check-in. However due to the large crowd size, we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes. The lobby and common areas were brightly lit by natural sunlight and floor mats which greeted guests depending on the time of the day were found around the hotel.

We were assigned to a room on the highest floor. We were very impressed with the stylish walkway heading to our guest room. Every part of the walkway was vibrant and gave a positive mood.

Fabulous room

Do check out this beautiful room in our immersive 360-degree room tour below.

360-degree room tour of the room.

The Fabulous room comes with a modernly designed entrance with wooden furnishings and carpeted floors. Immediately to the right was a small wooden table where guests can store their belongings. On the left was a two-doored wardrobe.

Entrance of the Fabulous room.

The doors of this wardrobe could only be opened one at a time through a sliding mechanism. Inside, standard bedroom amenities could be found including one bathrobe, foldable luggage rack, extra pillow, clothes hangers, built-in safe, iron, bedroom slippers and a laundry bag.

Directly opposite was a beautiful bathroom that wasn't particularly large but splendidly designed. The single vanity comes with a large mirror with bathroom amenities placed in this area.

Overview of the bathroom.

Dental kits, a soap bar, vanity kit and two bottles of mineral water were found near the basin. A volume panel for an audio system in the bathroom was located here but we did not manage to figure out how to utilise it.

Bathroom amenities.

The bathroom comes with a very nice bathtub with sliding glass panels on the other side that led to the main bedroom area. For couples seeking a unique experience, this set-up might be suitable.

A built-in bath tub which overlooked the room.

In addition to the bathtub, a standing shower area was also available. Here, a rain shower and a hand-held shower were found. Adjacent to this area was the WC.

Directly opposite the bathroom was the minibar area. Unlike many hotels during the pandemic which only provide on-demand minibar to minimise touch points, this hotel provided a fully stocked minibar. However, do check out the prices before consuming these items as they don't come cheap. Below the minibar counter was a mini fridge with chilled beverages. Complimentary TWG tea bags and instant coffee were provided.

Heading past the minibar area, guests will be greeted to a beautiful main bedroom area. The room came equipped with mood lights which could be changed.

The first thing on the left was a built-in luggage rack and beside it was a work desk. The work desk came with some stationery, mineral water bottles, a telephone, surgical face masks and wet wipes. Mounted onto the wall above this area was a good-sized flat screen television.

Opposite the workstation was a king sized bed. The bed was fairly comfortable and we had a good nights' sleep.

The bedside tables and lamps were rather unique. On one side were light switches, a telephone, phone charging dock, an alarm clock and a stationery set. The other table was fairly simple, with only bottled water found. Both sides had an adjustable reading lamp and power sockets.

Uniquely designed bedside tables.

By the window was a nice seating area equipped with a single seater sofa.

As we were on the highest floor, our private balcony was not sheltered so when it rained, this area become inaccessible. One other disadvantage was the planter on the balconies situated on the highest floor. This prevented us from leaning close to the edge to get a good view of the pool and Marina. An outdoor seating area including a sofa could be found here.

A spacious balcony.

As we had indicated that we will be celebrating a birthday, three helium-filled balloons were placed on our bed together with a small chocolate cake. Also, we received a written invitation to Woobar for Elite hours due to our Marriott Bonvoy status.

Facilities

This hotel has one of the largest swimming pool for a hotel in Singapore. Even with safe management measures, this area can accommodate 120 guests at any one time. Apart from the main pool area, a thrilling water slide for the young and old as well as many lounge spaces were available. This pool opens 24 hours a day but booking will need to be made for day usage. Also, the water slide is closed during the night for safety reasons.

An extremely large pool with a thrilling water slide.

The fitness centre was also relatively spacious and had mood lights which changed colour every now and then. A good variety of free weights and exercising equipment were available for guests. As only five guests are allowed at any one time, advanced booking is highly recommended.

Hotel guests can also access the spa facilities which features two heated pools and a steam room. You can find out more about these facilities in our YouTube video.

Dining Highlights

Elite guests (Marriott Bonvoy Platinum and above) are entitled to an evening "happy hour" at WooBar. Breakfast was served below it at The Kitchen Table, in an ala-carte buffet style.

Elite hours at Woobar

Woobar was situated on the second floor, the same floor as the lobby. It has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool and was a great place to unwind after a long day exploring the island.

Woobar which is the venue for Elite hours..

Free-flow alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were on the menu. For the full menu, scan the QR code below or check out our YouTube video review. Guests can only order a new beverage if they have finished their last one. Assorted nuts were provided for us to snack on.

Breakfast at The Kitchen Table

The Kitchen Table was situated on the ground floor with both indoor and outdoor seatings made available. The high ceilings and tall floor to ceiling windows gave the restaurant natural lightings. Although each guest will need to register a time slot, we were not rushed because the restaurant was not at its full capacity.

Breakfast was an all-you-can eat style where guests can choose their food from a contactless menu and then place their orders via a service crew. Upon arrival, we were presented a fruit platter and a bread basket.

A fantastic breakfast spread.

Cold and hot beverages were available and include fruit juices, coffee and tea. Healthy bowls were also on the menu with salad and quinoa bowls on offer. As expected, the standard American breakfast platters with eggs done your way can be ordered. Our favourite was the Avocado toast with poached eggs. In addition, local delights such as Nasi Lemak and Roti Pratha were also available. To end the breakfast, a good selection of sweet treats was included such as waffles, oatmeal, French toast and pancakes.

Various items available from the menu.

Concluding remarks: This hotel is largely popular for couples and families because of its one of a kind resort vibes and trendy interior design. Rooms were well appointed and service was great as expected from an upscale Marriott property. Having breakfast included during a stay here is a must. As with many other reviews of this property, we too are looking forward to a return here.
